Dear Friends of the Long Gray Line,
Welcome to the West Point Society of the San Francisco Bay Area (WPSSFBA). Our Society exists to unite graduates and friends of the United States Military Academy in the Bay Area, and to support our Alma Mater.
We foster connection among Bay Area graduates, their families, cadet parents, prospective cadets, and others affiliated with West Point. We do this by organizing events and maintaining an active network. Specifically, we:
Host Founder's Day events
Hold an annual Summer Picnic
Arrange periodic Benny Havens gatherings
Organize group attendance at sporting events
Help members to connect with one another
Inform members of interesting military-related events and speakers in the Bay Area
We proudly support West Point through a variety of initiatives, including:
Admissions support. Many members help to identify candidates for admission to West Point, then continue to mentor them through the selection process and throughout their cadet experience. Others interview candidates on behalf of Congressional representatives, providing critical input into the nominating process and identifying those most likely to succeed at West Point and as Army officers.
Cadet activities promotion. We communicate and organize support for West Point teams and clubs that travel to the Bay Area.
Community presence. Our members help institutions such as the Oakland Military Institute (OMI), a high school focused on building leadership and responsibility, and we periodically offer support to various Veteran-related charities and initiatives.
The Association of Graduates continually names our Society a Distinguished Society because of the aforementioned activities and other support for the Academy. I hope all members of the Long Gray Line and eligible friends of West Point in the Bay Area will join the Society, actively participate, and enjoy all it has to offer.
